All the news I wish to print

There are all kinds of stories out there. Some will make you laugh, some will make you cry. Some will make you shrug, some will make you scream. Read any daily paper or listen to any newscast and your emotions can go from happy to sad to disbelief to fear to incredulity to horror to anger in very short order.
As we go along, there will be stories, as Paul Harvey used to say, to "wash your ears out with." There will be others that will make you feel like you need to be deloused simply by virtue of having heard or read them. Some posts will be religious, some secular and for some I expect will defy easy classification in either category. I hope you will join me in this journey and please feel free to comment along the way.
For my part I pledge not to remove any posts unless they are vulgar, libelous, threatening or otherwise in violation of the standards of civil discussion. I will not remove any post simply because I disagree with it but I will reserve the right to respond to any challenges that come my way.
God bless you and welcome to my blog.

This is your President. Doesn't he make you proud?

No matter who wins the Republican nomination it will be nigh on impossible NOT to wie the floor with this guy. There are no teleprompters in the debate forum. I don't know what will be more entertaining, the debates themselves or the Democrats attempts to avoid them.

Angry, Stoned, Clueless Leftist Mobs 'Occupy Wall Street' - HUMAN EVENTS

I was in high school during the height of Vietnam War era protests. These nitwits pathetic attempt at imitating what they have apparently seen in old news footage of those days can only be seen as laughable. That any news organization actually took them seriouslly enough to even send a camera crew to report on this farce is very telling about the condition of the fourth estate these days.

Herman Cain Leads Republican Field In Zogby Poll - HUMAN EVENTS

In the 40 years since the first time I walked into a voting booth and pulled the lever for the candidate of choice I am actually seriously considering giving money to a political campaign. This is a big thing for me because I generally restrict most of my giving to my church and church affiliated charities. But Herman Cain is a truly unique character-the anti-politician so many before him have claimed to be, such as the current sycophant in the Oval Office. I am very excited by what I see and hear so far both for and from Mr. Cain and for the first time in many, many years I am truly excited about a presidential election. Stay tuned and check out the link below about the latest Zogby Poll.

As saddened as I am by the shameful treatment of this man who ha dedicated his life to the service of God's people I am sadder still for the people who are in the fold of these shepherds. As clergy the greatest pastoral good you can due or your people is to tell the truth, even when that truth is unpopular, inconvenient or even painful. Anything else is what is truly pastorally insensitive.

Got Bible?

Congress shall make no law respecting an establishment of religion, or prohibiting the free exercise thereof; or abridging the freedom of speech, or of the press; or the right of the people peaceably to assemble, and to petition the Government for a redress of grievances.

These rights are so fundamental to the functioning of a free society the founders listed them in the first article of what has come to be known as the Bill of Rights. While it is true that localities have the right to establish reasonable restrictions to protect the rights of all its citizens, using that right as an excuse to repress small religious or political gatherings in a private home is something not to be taken lightly. Since the objects of this action refuse to disparage the one individual that is making waves about these meetings, I will not do so either. But it is telling that other neighbors, who presumably also need street access to drive and to park, are not only not complaining but are rather supporting the Froms in this struggle. The video and link to the story are below.

Email surprise

When I opened my email this evening when what to my wondering eyes should appear but a message from Obama that appealed to my fear. It seems that when I tried to access that moronic "Attackwatch" website the other day it was necessary to enter your email to get past the first page. I did but when I realized you had to contribute to the Obama Campaign in order report those who had the temerity to publicly disagree with our Dear Leader-I was going to turn myself in-I closed the page and left the site. Apparently they keep your email whether you complete your registration or not, which is kind of creepy-and then they spam you just in case you are among the dwindling number of his supporters. naturally I clicked the "unsubscribe" button and promptly recieved a message to explain how I could possibly want to leave such a wonderful site. So I told them;

I would rather support and vote for someone who has a clue as to what makes free enterprise tick. The President clearly believes that the answer is more government spending which has been an abysmal failure. This President has no answers other than it's Bush's fault, it's the earthquake's fault, it's the tsunami's fault, it's corporate jet owner's fault. The American people deserve answers, not excuses and President Obama precious few of the former while having an over abundance of the latter.

Gee, I hope I wasn't too subtle.

The Americans

Today we are remembering those who perished s the result of a monstrous act of hatred toward America and Americans. Even in the face of such absolute evil there are those who would be apologists for those who perpetrated this atrocity, insisting that they had good reason to harbor such emotions and that we brought this on ourselves. Well America is not perfect and our best intentions may not have always resulted in the best results. We even have our own sins to atone for such as slavery and our treatment of Native Americans. and there are those even in public office in our own country who wish to define us by such dark standards. But I am proud of our country, warts and all, because what truly defines America is referred to in this presentation, writen by one Canadian and performed by another.

I probably will not be able to post this weekend but I just wanted to put this up in tribute to all the heroes and victims who died on 9/11.

Eternal rest grant unto them oh Lord. And let your perpetual light shine upon them. may they rest in peace. Amen. M

May their souls and the souls of all the faithful departed, through the mercy of God, rest in peace. Amen.

Teachers union president says Mayor Emanuel ‘exploded’ at her - Chicago Sun-Times

Rahm Emmanuel is such a class act, isn't he? Perhaps he didn't get the memo about the sacrosanct nature of unions-especially teachers unions. My question, though, is why would anyone in the position Ms. Lewis is in would would allow this schoolyard bully to get away with what is clearly unacceptable behavior and verbal abuse. It is really time for people to stand up for themselves and for those of us who pay their salaries to insist that professionals act like professionals, including in their communication.

Doug Urbanski: DOUG'S STACKS - Buffett Company Is Behind on Taxes

Warren Buffett's entreaty to be taxed more might seem a little less disingenuous if he actually intended to actually pay what he is taxed. Perhaps his overweening desire to reduce the budget deficit by raising revenue through raising taxes could be realized by simply writing a check for the amount in question in the article below.

WOLF: Obama more telegraph than iPhone - Washington Times

When I was in high school I was hippy wannabe. I had the long hair and bell bottoms and was full of half baked socialist ideological ideas. I never made it to full fledged hippy I guess because I did not get into drugs, was too homely and shy for the sexual revolution and I never claimed to have been at Woodstock. What attracted me, of course, was the promise individual freedom. As I grew older I realized that this promise was just another version of the lie teh serpent told to eve and that the result was the same-a false promise which led only to abject slavery and slow, painful death. This article shows the stark difference between the false sense of security projected by those who would have government cure our ills and what happens when true free enterprise and the indomitable human spirit is allowed to thrive.

Longshoremen storm Wash. state port, damage RR

Trespassing, destruction of private property and kidnapping are all crimes. Union thugs should not be above the law and every one of them who participated in this should be prosecuted to the fullest extent of the law.

LONGVIEW, Wash. (AP) — Hundreds of Longshoremen stormed the Port of Longview early Thursday, overpowered and held security guards, damaged railroad cars, and dumped grain that is the center of a labor dispute, said Longview Police Chief Jim Duscha.

Six guards were held hostage for a couple of hours after 500 or more Longshoremen broke down gates about 4:30 a.m. and smashed windows in the guard shack, he said.

No one was hurt, and nobody has been arrested. Most of the protesters returned to their union hall after cutting brake lines and spilling grain from car at the EGT terminal, Duscha said.

Some interesting electoral college math

In 2008, John McCain won 173 electoral college votes. It is very difficult to imagine any state that voted for McCain in 2008 not supporting the GOP candidate in 2012. So that means the GOP nominee has to swipe 97 votes from the Obama column to win in 2012. Where might they come from?

First, some caveats. State head-to-head polling is very iffy this far from the election. For example, President Obama has terrible approval numbers in Kentucky, 39/56 approve/disapprove. McCain beat him there 57.5% to 41.1%. Over the past three presidential elections, Republican have won the state by an average of 17 poitns. Yet in head to head match-ups, Obama currently leads all 2012 GOP candidates. Does anyone really think Obama is going to win Kentucky in 2012?

Thus, I tend to find that approval/disapproval numbers tell us more. Yet they also have their weakness – after all, candidates run against other specifically identifiable candidates. In an election such as we should expect in 2012, much will turn on whether voters see the race as a referendum on Obama, or as a referendum on the Republican nominee’s suitability. President Obama will spend over $1 billion to make it the latter, and have tremendous help from the national press corps. Space prohibits me from talking at length about the particulars of each state’s electorate, particularly as it may react to the various GOP candidates and the issues at the fore in 2012. I do believe that past election results, however, are quite useful – in states that typically voted Republican before 2008, and voted Republican again in 2010, there is a high probability that 2008 was an aberation. With that said, here we go.

50 year old cartoon-still worth watching

Some things do not change in 50 years. One of the most reliably consistent is that when someone wants to sell us a bill of goods they want us to sign on the dotted line without actually reading and learning about what is being foisted upon us.
