All the news I wish to print

There are all kinds of stories out there. Some will make you laugh, some will make you cry. Some will make you shrug, some will make you scream. Read any daily paper or listen to any newscast and your emotions can go from happy to sad to disbelief to fear to incredulity to horror to anger in very short order.
As we go along, there will be stories, as Paul Harvey used to say, to "wash your ears out with." There will be others that will make you feel like you need to be deloused simply by virtue of having heard or read them. Some posts will be religious, some secular and for some I expect will defy easy classification in either category. I hope you will join me in this journey and please feel free to comment along the way.
For my part I pledge not to remove any posts unless they are vulgar, libelous, threatening or otherwise in violation of the standards of civil discussion. I will not remove any post simply because I disagree with it but I will reserve the right to respond to any challenges that come my way.
God bless you and welcome to my blog.

Warp Speed Homily: Temptation and The Devil's Plan for You

It is said that brevity is the hallmark of a good homily. This is an example of this principle applied properly.

Remember when comedians had talent?

So many comedians today rely for their appeal on vulgarity, viciousness or both. I grew up in a time when comedians were just plain funny. I am off from work tonight so I was just surfing around Youtube and found this from one of my favorite all time entertainers. Enjoy.

Special EWTN Live Roundtable - Pope Announces His Retirement - 2013-02-11

EWTN NEWSLINK - 2013-02-11 - Pope announces he will resign at the end of...

This news was quite a shock. There had been speculation recently about the Pope's declining health but since much of it was in the mainstream press i really just dismissed any notion that the Pope would resign. Infact when I first heard it on the radio this morning as I was getting ready for Mass I thought for sure there would be a quick denial from the Holy See but instead what we got was a quick confirmation.

I have mixed feelings as I sit here in my office. I admire Pope Benedict for his humility but mourn the loss of his presence on the world stage. He has such a clear view of the threats we face both to tour Church and to the world at large from teh dictatorship of relativism promulgated by the false religion of secularism.  I, for one, will miss him.

Cardinal George on the law and politics of the HHS mandate

Snowstorm Nemo

Some pictures from the snowstorm. Compared to what our neighbors in eastern Long Island and New England are facing, this was just a dusting. Our prayers go out to everyone affected by this stomr which dumped as much as forty inches in some places and closed entire states road systems.

Dr Ben Carson at the National Prayer Breakfast:Must see!

This is a video you really need to see. Christian Values, self reliance, hard work, success through struggle-all those things the nanny state tells us cannot work and there are the President and Vice President sitting and

watching and, no doubt, seething.

Snow in New York in February?

This, apparently, is a shocking development for Mayor Bloomberg who is in full blown panic mode. They are predicting 8-12 inches but you would think by the nanny mayors response we had never seen, driven or walked in snow ever before. Preparations are prudent but virtually shutting down teh city by mayoral fiat seems a little extreme. Oh well, we'll see what happens and I'll post some pics of conditions later.

CHRIS ROCK: 'THE PRESIDENT IS OUR BOSS...OUR DAD'

The President is our boss? Did they add that to the oath of office? Or maybe they just want to replace that bothersome little phrase about preserving, protecting and defending the Constitution of the United States. Let's see: "I, Barack Hussein Obama, am the boss!" Well at least this would be a more honest representation of his narcissistic vision of himself.
